When news broke of Igbo houses being demolished in Lagos, sympathy should have followed. Instead, mockery filled the comments. One user wrote: “Ntoooooor, as una no dey hear word, una dey for Lagos dey zuzu.” This cruel remark suggested the victims were fools for investing outside the East. But pain should never be mocked. Losing a home is devastating, and no tribe or region is immune to government policies or demolition drives. Rather than sneering at victims, we should learn from their loss, push for justice, and build unity. Division only strengthens oppression, while compassion fosters resilience.
