When news broke of the Lagos State Government demolishing over 19 buildings at Trade Fair Plaza, frustration spread among Nigerians who demanded accountability from the right authorities. Unfortunately, some chose to insult the victims rather than empathize, with one comment stating: “My Igbo brothers too mumu.” This is a deeply unfair and tribalistic remark. These property owners were not “foolish”; they were victims of systemic failure and lack of proper regulation. Shifting blame onto an ethnic group only fuels division. Instead, energy should be directed toward ensuring justice, transparency, and secure investments for all Nigerians, regardless of tribe.
