After the heartbreaking news of the young lawyer who was kidnapped in Akwa Ibom, one user ignorantly wrote: “From igbo abi?” — attempting to blame an entire tribe without any facts.

This is both reckless and tribalistic. The post never mentioned the kidnappers’ identity, yet the commenter hastily pointed fingers at Igbos. Such remarks fuel unnecessary ethnic tension and distract from the real issue: insecurity and the failure of authorities to protect citizens. Crime has no tribe — criminals are criminals regardless of where they come from. Shifting blame to a particular ethnic group is not only divisive but also deeply unfair to innocent people.
