A post highlighting the development and progress in an Eastern state was met with unnecessary criticism, and one deeply offensive comment stated, “Igbos have no history, no identity.” This is a harmful and ignorant statement that disrespects an entire ethnic group rich in culture, innovation, and historical depth. The Igbo people have a well-documented history of trade, governance, art, and resilience that predates colonial times. Dismissing their identity only fuels ethnic hatred and division. Conversations about regional progress should focus on facts and collaboration, not on promoting prejudice or erasing the legacy of any Nigerian tribe.
