After the heartbreaking incident in which Lieutenant Samson Haruna, a Nigerian Army officer, died after being allegedly set ablaze by his wife during a domestic dispute in Akwa Ibom, one user commented, “Na to dey avoid Akwa Ibom women.” This statement unfairly stereotypes all women from Akwa Ibom as dangerous based on the actions of one individual. Such generalizations promote tribal and gender bias, fueling unnecessary division and suspicion. Every person should be judged by their own character, not by their origin. Condemning an entire group for one person’s wrongdoing is both unjust and deeply discriminatory.
