After the arrest of a Nigerian man in Argentina by Interpol for allegedly orchestrating multiple romance scams, tribal-based comments began to surface. One user wrote, “Igbo men and romance scam,” implying that men from the Igbo ethnic group are naturally involved in fraudulent activities. This statement is both discriminatory and damaging, as it unfairly associates crime with an entire tribe. Such generalizations deepen ethnic division and tarnish the image of innocent individuals. Crime has no ethnicity — judging people by tribe instead of character fuels prejudice and weakens the unity Nigeria desperately needs.
