After a controversial issue involving a brand named BOKKU, a user on X made an alarming statement: “After this BOKKU palava I think we should start the ‘Don’t patronize Ibo’ campaign.”
This kind of reaction crosses the line from criticism to outright discrimination. Instead of addressing the situation constructively—perhaps suggesting boycotting unethical brands regardless of tribe—the commenter chose to generalize and target an entire ethnic group. Such remarks fuel division, deepen stereotypes, and promote hate. It’s dangerous how quickly some turn individual disputes into tribal wars. Accountability should be personal, not ethnic—no business or community deserves to be condemned based on tribal identity.
