A young lady came online to recount a painful experience involving her sister and brother-in-law. According to her, when she was still a teenager living with them, her aunt once caught her sister’s husband making physical advances toward her. Rather than hold the man accountable, both her sister and the husband reportedly turned against her — accusing her of seducing him and eventually mistreating her afterward. One disturbing comment under the post read: “The man was right somehow sha. You’ve been fantasizing sleeping with the man, u just can’t help it.”
This kind of statement is deeply wrong and dangerous. It attempts to justify the actions of a grown man by blaming a teenager — a minor — for his misconduct. Even if a young girl were to have thoughts or feelings she doesn’t fully understand, it is never an excuse for an adult to act on them. The responsibility lies solely with the man, who should know better and maintain boundaries.
Such comments promote victim-blaming, normalize abuse, and make it harder for survivors to speak up. It is important to educate people that no child or teenager can ever be responsible for an adult’s immoral choices or actions.
