After a gunrunner in Zamfara was caught smuggling an RPG and two AK-47s inside bags of dried fish, one commenter defended him, writing, “He is a common hunter; they should just let him be.” That excuse is dangerous and absurd — RPGs and AK-47s are weapons of warfare, not hunting tools.

Normalizing military-grade arms as “hunting” masks criminality and risks more violence. The appropriate response is arrest, transparent investigation, and prosecution under the law, not dismissal. Communities deserve safety, not platitudes that excuse illegal arms trafficking. Demand stronger enforcement, better border controls, and accountable policing to stop weapons flowing into the hands of criminals.
