A viral post showed a lady allegedly caught burying charms in her husband’s compound. Reports said the community paraded her around town before taking her to the elders for judgment — a disturbing display of public humiliation. While the act itself drew mixed reactions, one tribalistic comment read, “Igbo people with bad news na 5 and 6.”

Such a remark is both unfair and divisive. Wrongdoing is not tied to ethnicity; it is an individual act. Using one person’s actions to condemn an entire tribe fuels stereotypes and deepens ethnic bias. Every community has people who do good and others who make mistakes. Nigeria’s strength lies in unity, not in fanning tribal hatred over isolated incidents.
