After the story of a landlord’s daughter allegedly assisting a male tenant to rape and murder their female neighbour, one lady made a controversial statement: “Whenever a man commits evil know that a woman is there directly or indirectly to aid the evil. Women will never be safe in this part of the society.”

This statement unfairly generalizes and casts women as the root of men’s wrongdoing, which is deeply problematic. While the crime is indeed horrific, blaming all women for the evil acts of men promotes misogyny and victim-blaming. It shifts focus from holding individuals accountable for their personal actions to fueling gender-based resentment. Evil has no gender—both men and women can commit or prevent it. Such sweeping statements only divide society further instead of promoting justice and understanding.
