After news broke that gunmen abducted six Defence Ministry directors on their way to Abuja, many Nigerians reacted with fear and frustration. But one controversial comment read, “Exactly! Focus more on civil servants, politicians instead of innocent citizens trying to make ends meet. This way they will take insecurity more seriously.”
While it reflects the public’s anger at government failure, wishing harm on anyone — even politicians or civil servants — is inhumane and misguided. Violence against leaders doesn’t solve insecurity; it deepens it. Every life, whether of a citizen or an official, deserves protection under the same law.
Red flag 🚩: You can demand accountability without celebrating tragedy.
