Ezra Olubi, co-founder of Paystack, faced serious accusations, including pedophilia and inappropriate sexual behavior, based on past posts and actions. Amid the outrage, one user commented, “I laughed so hard at this. The guy is just having fun with his tweets.”

This mindset is dangerous. Joking about sexual abuse, harassment, or inappropriate conduct is not harmless “fun.” Minimizing these behaviors normalizes harm, endangers victims, and signals that such actions are acceptable. Sexual misconduct is a serious issue and should never be trivialized.

Laughing at someone claiming sexual relations with minors or touching colleagues inappropriately is not just insensitive — it is morally wrong. Social media commentary must distinguish between humor and complicity in abuse.

Accountability, not laughter, is what protects society.
