After Mr. Jollof released a video showing he was perfectly fine after his physical altercation with VeryDarkMan on the plane, the internet wasted no time reacting. In the wave of comments that followed, one user wrote: “If to fight VDM will make me trend, I will fight him ooh.”

This is exactly the kind of unhealthy mindset that social media has normalized — chasing clout through chaos. Turning violence into a shortcut to fame is a dangerous trend, especially when the people involved already have large platforms and massive influence.

When conflict becomes a content strategy, it sends the wrong message: that the quickest way to blow up online is to provoke fights, record drama, and put yourself or others at risk.

Not everything is worth “trending,” and definitely not violence. Social media visibility should never come at the cost of dignity, safety, or common sense.
