Why This Comment Is Harmful
Telling people to “japa” as the only solution to Nigeria’s problems sounds wise on the surface, but it’s actually insensitive and dismissive. Not everyone has the financial means, family support, or opportunities to relocate abroad. Comments like this indirectly imply that those who remain in Nigeria are doomed or foolish for staying, which only fuels despair and hopelessness.
Beyond that, advising mass escape does nothing to fix the insecurity and chaos affecting the country. If anything, it leaves the nation more vulnerable by encouraging its most capable citizens to abandon ship. People deserve solutions that include them, not advice that makes them feel trapped, excluded, or left behind. What Nigerians need now is pressure for real reforms, not a one-way ticket fantasy reserved for the privileged few.
