Under a post about insecurity, someone dropped the reckless comment: “Most northerners no get brain.”
This is the kind of statement that does nothing but fan the flames Nigeria is already struggling to put out.
Reducing an entire region — tens of millions of people — to an insult is not just hateful, it’s lazy thinking. Nigeria’s problems are systemic, political, and structural, not genetic or tied to tribe. Comments like this don’t challenge bad leadership or extremist groups; they simply attack ordinary people who are also victims of the same chaos.
We can criticize actions, policies, and failures without demonizing whole tribes. Once we start painting entire regions as “brainless,” we’re no longer discussing solutions — we’re feeding division.
