Under the viral video of heavily armed bandits in Katsina allegedly holding peace talks, one disturbing comment read: “Why na only South East and North this terrorist dey happen? Foolani and Ibo people are the problems of this country. Cursed tribes.”
This is more than frustration — it’s hate speech disguised as analysis. Instead of addressing the real issue (insecurity), the commenter resorts to blaming entire ethnic groups for the nation’s problems. Terrorism is a criminal act, not a tribal identity, and reducing millions of Nigerians to “cursed tribes” only deepens division.
Comments like this fuel ethnic resentment, encourage profiling, and distract from demanding accountability from those truly responsible: armed criminals and the systems failing to stop them. Nigeria already battles enough insecurity — adding tribal hate only guarantees more chaos, not solutions.
