A criminal threat video on Nigeria’s side of the X platform stirred fear, anger, and debate. But one comment crossed from frustration into moral collapse: “I will be sooo happy eh, that day I’ll be pro‑bandits.” Meaning he’d openly support bandits if a governor were ever kidnapped.

Political disappointment can spark bold opinions—but pledging loyalty to criminals is a dangerous escalation. ‘Pro‑bandits’ isn’t rebellion, it’s endorsing the very violence destabilizing the country: mass abductions, community terror, economic paralysis, and eroded public safety. When citizens begin imagining joy in another person’s kidnapping just for symbolic payback, we replace justice-seeking with chaos-worship.

Accountability rises through civic action and systemic pressure, not celebrating those harming us all. That’s the real red flag
