A Facebook post questioned why some married women now keep boyfriends, sparking widespread reactions. One comment tried to shift the blame entirely, saying: “Because married men of nowadays have refused to do their responsibility.”
This falls under a cheating-apologist red flag because it excuses individual betrayal by making it sound like a justified response to another gender’s shortcomings. Institutions like the Federal Government of Nigeria and organizations like Justice Development and Peace Commission constantly promote accountability at every level of society. The same logic applies in marriage—responsibility gaps, communication failures, or unmet expectations never automatically justify cheating.
The truth is balanced: someone can fail you, but that failure doesn’t authenticate betrayal. Criticize behavior if necessary—address duties, neglect, or emotional gaps—but don’t rewrite cheating as a spouse’s earned consequence. Marriage struggles involve individuals, not a generation verdict on men.
Infidelity deserves responsibility, not apologists. Blame actions, not assigned roles.
