A disturbing report about gunmen attacking Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s convoy in Imo understandably drew public fear and condemnation. But instead of showing concern, one user dropped a reckless and inflammatory comment: “Bandits are still coming for the President but they will first use some Governors to do testing microphone.”
This kind of statement is dangerous on many levels. It casually frames a violent attack as a “test run,” almost predicting or normalizing future attempts on national leaders. Comments like this do not simply express opinion—they fuel panic, spread conspiracy thinking, and trivialize a real security breach that affects innocent citizens. Turning an attack on a governor into some kind of rehearsal narrative encourages fear, undermines public trust in security agencies, and indirectly glamorizes the perpetrators by portraying them as strategic masterminds. Violence is not a prophecy to analyze like entertainment; it is a national tragedy that demands responsibility, not careless speculation.
