A post about a wanted man in Owerri—allegedly linked to organ harvesting through a hotel and private mortuary—sparked outrage online. However, one response crossed a dangerous line: “Ibos are curses to humanity… they engage in all kinds of crime and flaunt its proceeds in the face of legit hustlers.” This comment is deeply toxic and unacceptable. It takes the alleged crime of an individual and weaponizes it against an entire ethnic group, promoting hate, prejudice, and collective punishment. Crime has no tribe, religion, or ethnicity; criminals exist in every society. Statements like this fuel tribal hatred, erase innocent lives, and distract from the real issue—justice and accountability for the accused. Condemning wrongdoing should never require dehumanizing a whole people. Such rhetoric only deepens division and undermines national unity.
