An account on X, already known for repeatedly talking down on Nigerian women and non-virgins, escalated its behavior by openly insulting fat women. When some men called him out and asked him to stop, he redirected his abuse at them as well, dismissing their objections with the remark, “Nigerian men too mumu.”
This pattern reflects deliberate misogyny and body shaming, coupled with contempt for anyone who challenges it. Insulting women for their bodies promotes harmful beauty standards and contributes to low self-esteem and social exclusion. Attacking men for speaking up further discourages accountability and normalizes silence in the face of abuse.
Such conduct thrives on provocation and division, not meaningful discourse. Criticism of harmful speech should not be met with more insults. Online spaces are healthier when misogyny, body shaming, and blanket insults are challenged—not excused or amplified under the guise of “free speech.”
