A man made a stereotypical and offensive post about Nigerian women, stating, “An average Nigerian woman at 25 already has big belly. At 30, she’s fat and blaming it on childbirth. It shall never be well with fat women.”

This statement is deeply problematic. It relies on crude generalizations, body shaming, and open hostility toward women, reducing millions of individuals to a single, demeaning narrative. It also shows a disturbing lack of understanding of women’s bodies, health, genetics, and the physical effects of pregnancy and childbirth.

Beyond the insult, wishing harm on an entire group because of body size normalizes cruelty and misogyny. It contributes to low self-esteem, mental health struggles, and unrealistic beauty standards.

Public discourse should challenge harmful stereotypes, not amplify them. Women’s bodies are not public property, and body size is not a moral failure deserving ridicule or curses.
