A video of a lady explaining how a car engineer covered her check lights to cause more damage, and increase repair costs, led to a user stating, “Never do business with family.” While frustrations with unethical behavior are valid, this comment is an overgeneralization. Many successful family businesses thrive on trust and shared values, proving that family involvement in business can work well with proper boundaries and communication. The unethical actions of one individual, whether family or not, shouldn’t be the basis for assuming all family business dealings will fail. Instead, it’s important to set clear expectations and accountability, no matter who you’re working with, to ensure integrity in business relationships.
