The controversy surrounding the elderly man’s wish to witness the rebirth of a new Nigeria reflects the deep pessimism many hold about the country’s future. A comment like, “I believe that Nigeria will never work again not in this world,” captures this sense of hopelessness, but it also reinforces a defeatist mindset. Such negativity discourages people from pursuing meaningful reforms and progress.

Dismissing the efforts of Nigerians who work hard to improve sectors like education, technology, and governance undermines their dedication. It also spreads apathy, suggesting that efforts to create change are in vain. This weakens collective resolve to rebuild the nation.

More importantly, this attitude harms future generations by robbing them of hope. Nigeria’s progress depends on belief and action, not defeatism.
