A post celebrating a king’s initiative to provide free education, laptops, internet, and 24/7 power to underprivileged, smart children drew unfortunate tribalistic comments, such as, “Igbo people will fill that school, and it will eventually get abused soon.”

This kind of statement distracts from the true goal of the initiative—helping disadvantaged children access education—and instead sows division where unity and support are needed. Tribalism has no place in discussions about opportunities that benefit society as a whole. Instead of focusing on ethnicity, the focus should be on ensuring the program succeeds and expands to help more children in need, regardless of their background. Inclusivity, not division, is the path to lasting progress in education and society.
