The statement that men and women can’t be just friends, as men will eventually want sex or a relationship, promotes harmful stereotypes. It unfairly portrays men as always having hidden motives, reducing all opposite-sex friendships to potential romantic or sexual pursuits.
This mindset fosters distrust between genders, discouraging meaningful connections and emotional support across genders. It also invalidates the many genuine, platonic friendships that exist, limiting personal growth for both men and women.
Healthy friendships—regardless of gender—thrive on respect and trust. Promoting fear of male intentions not only isolates women socially but also denies men the opportunity for emotionally enriching, non-romantic bonds.
