After a House of Representatives member was arrested for assaulting a delivery man who refused to enter his home, a troubling comment surfaced, saying, “You’re stupid for posting this, that man shouldn’t pay him.”

This insensitive remark not only trivializes the assault but also promotes injustice by suggesting the delivery man should be denied payment for doing his job properly. Such comments fuel a culture where power imbalances are accepted, undermining accountability for abusive behavior. Disputes should never justify mistreatment, and withholding payment is not a solution. Respect and professionalism must be upheld on both sides, but abuse—especially from those in positions of power—should never be condoned.
