A disturbing comment in response to a post showing Nigerian soldiers assaulting a man for overtaking their vehicle read: “For this, the army guys are not at fault. We all know that armies are not real human beings. So we should avoid them.” Portraying soldiers as entities above accountability. While military personnel deserve respect for their service, it is dangerous to excuse acts of violence under the guise of their profession.
