A post about an incident in 2018 where the Kano State government sponsored their students to a Quiz competition in Lagos by road, which resulted in a ghastly accident and they all died on their way. Their corpses were then flown back to Kano by air. so many addressed the issue blaming the government for prioritizing the dead over the living, but one comment removing accountability from the Government read “Is their destiny they can’t excape, taking their corpses by airplane is for quick burial.” Removing Accountability from the government, shifting blame to fate. Such statements dismiss the negligence that led to the tragic loss of young lives, undermining the need for systemic change. Normalizing avoidable deaths as “destiny”.
