In response to Omoyele Sowore’s call for protests against alleged judicial corruption, a comment read, “You just overrated Nigeria, 85% of the population are illiterates. Trust me.”

Such exaggerated claims do little to address the issue and instead perpetuate harmful stereotypes about Nigerians. While literacy challenges exist, dismissing the majority of the population as illiterate undermines their potential and the progress many have made. Constructive dialogue should focus on fostering awareness, empowerment, and collective action to tackle systemic problems, not on making divisive and unfounded statements.
