A recent comment on a post celebrating a man’s success, credited to his partner’s love, stated: “As long as I’m concerned, real love no dey exist. No money, no love.” This remark reduces love to a financial transaction, dismissing the existence of genuine emotional connections that most people get from their parents.
Such a view feeds into the harmful stereotype that love is only possible with money, undermining relationships built on trust, respect, and shared experiences. While money can influence relationships, true love is rooted in mutual care and emotional bonds, not just financial stability.
We should challenge this notion and recognise that real love transcends material wealth, fostering a more positive and realistic understanding of relationships.
