In response to the tragic killing of 13 worshippers in a mosque in Kaduna, one user made a disturbingly dismissive comment: “Na family things, they go settle am.” Such a statement trivializes the deaths of innocent people by framing it as though it were a minor family dispute. This is deeply insensitive, as it overlooks the gravity of terrorism and the pain of grieving families. Reducing violent attacks to “family matters” only normalizes bloodshed and shifts focus away from justice and security. In times of crisis, Nigerians should promote empathy, accountability, and unity instead of careless remarks.
