A troubling video of a couple fighting while their baby was left unattended sparked widespread criticism. While some comments fairly condemned both parents, a biased one in support of the man read, “when u married a lady dat doesn’t respect or fear him dats wat u get.. a lady shld never respond physically to her husband or man even if he started it first.”
This mindset is toxic—it excuses abuse from the man while demanding total submission from the woman, even in self-defense. Such views normalize violence and perpetuate harmful power imbalances, instead of promoting mutual respect and non-violence in relationships.
