When news broke that a kidnapped lady had been released, many people rejoiced and called for an end to such insecurity. Sadly, one disturbing comment read: “Hope her kpekus is intact oo as she fine like..” reducing the woman’s trauma to a crude sexual remark. This is not only insensitive but dehumanizing, as it trivializes the fear, pain, and psychological impact of abduction. Instead of focusing on her safety and recovery, the comment objectifies her body. Such attitudes reflect a deeper societal problem—where women’s dignity is dismissed even in moments of crisis. Survivors of trauma deserve empathy, not mockery.
