A disturbing video circulated on Facebook showing a doctor physically assaulting a patient who complained about the doctor’s tone and requested to be spoken to respectfully. The situation escalated into a physical altercation initiated by the doctor, despite the patient reportedly having breathing difficulties. In response, one comment attempted to justify the act: “You can’t tell the doctor how to treat his patient, that maybe his own way of treating his patients.”

This comment is deeply concerning. Professional authority does not grant permission for abuse. Medical care is governed by ethics, consent, and duty of care—none of which include intimidation or violence. A patient’s right to dignity and respectful communication is fundamental, not optional.

Justifying assault under the guise of “personal style” normalizes malpractice and endangers lives. Healthcare settings must prioritize safety, empathy, and professionalism. Any deviation warrants accountability, not excuses.
