A man shared a story about his friend Ejike, who brought his girlfriend from Nigeria to the UK. Both work as nurses, earning £5,200 combined. Their monthly bills are £2,300, so Ejike asked her to contribute £1,000 while he paid £1,300. After three months of contributing, her attitude allegedly changed, and she reportedly began filing for divorce.
The story sparked heated reactions online, and one of the most troubling comments read: “Na mumu dey carry woman go abroad. Marry her and leave her behind. E better make small small boys dey knack your wife in Nigeria than for her to dey give you problem in Abroad.”
This comment is toxic and normalises infidelity, distrust, and dysfunctional marriages. Instead of addressing the real issues—communication, expectations, and the pressure of living abroad—it promotes unhealthy, harmful ideas that help no one.
