Reacting to the reported Canadian court decision by saying “They should ban all Nigerian politicians sef from entering their country” is a sweeping generalization that unfairly lumps every politician into the same category. While frustration with corruption and poor governance in Nigeria is understandable, not every politician is corrupt or harmful. Such blanket statements ignore the existence of honest, hardworking public servants and risk promoting bias against individuals solely because of their profession. Accountability should be pursued on a case-by-case basis, targeting those guilty of wrongdoing, not punishing an entire group based on the actions of some.
