A post on X read, “Most men will sit and watch a good woman walk away, simply because she mistakenly slept with someone.” The statement quickly drew attention for how it frames infidelity as a minor error while placing blame on men for choosing to leave.

This claim is misleading. Cheating is not a “mistake” in the sense of an accident; it is a conscious breach of trust. Reducing infidelity to something accidental minimizes the emotional damage it causes and shifts responsibility away from the person who broke the commitment.

Portraying men as unreasonable for setting boundaries also ignores personal agency. Choosing not to continue a relationship after betrayal is not cruelty or pride—it is a valid response to broken trust.

Healthy relationships depend on accountability and mutual respect. Normalizing infidelity or shaming people for walking away from it undermines those principles and distorts conversations about commitment and forgiveness.
