After Oby Ezekwesili and Oseni Rufai condemned the rising killings in Nigeria and urged the government to genuinely tackle insecurity, one user responded with, “Disintegrate Nigeria to save lives.”
This comment reflects frustration, but it oversimplifies a complex problem. Breaking the country apart won’t magically end violence, corruption, or insecurity — these issues exist within tribes, regions, and even smaller communities. Division often creates more conflict, not less.
What Nigeria needs is accountability, competent leadership, justice, and unity of purpose — not more fragmentation.
Calling for disintegration during a national crisis ignores the countless citizens who still believe in building a safer, fairer nation together.
Despair is understandable, but destruction is never the answer.
