A report revealed that 1 in every 4 paternity tests in Nigeria comes back negative, sparking heated debates. While many stressed the importance of DNA testing, one comment went too far: “No matter the amount of love you have for someone, do DNA. Most especially when dealing with Nigerian women.” Encouraging DNA tests is valid, but stereotyping Nigerian women as the “worst” is unfair and damaging. Infidelity and paternity fraud are not exclusive to one gender or nationality—they are human issues. Turning it into a weapon against women creates stigma. The focus should remain on truth, accountability, and protecting children’s rights.
