A comment claimed that Pastor E.A. Adeboye asking his church to donate over ₦3 billion is “corruption” and that defending him means “encouraging corruption.” This is misleading. Corruption involves deceit, fraud, or misuse of power for personal gain, usually through coercion or illegal activity. In this case, the request was openly made, and members can choose to give or not. No evidence suggests force or misappropriation. While it’s fine to question the amount, calling voluntary giving “corruption” misuses the term and spreads misinformation, damaging reputations and creating unnecessary distrust within faith communities. Disagreement isn’t the same as wrongdoing.
