A lady reacted to President Tinubu’s refusal to sign the NDLEA 2025 Bill into law, criticizing his foreign trips to countries known for narcotics trade and the release of 70 drug offenders. She expressed her frustration by concluding, “Engaging in drugs related offences is no more a crime.” This statement, however, is misleading and dangerous. While her anger might stem from perceived government leniency, declaring drug crimes as acceptable undermines the fight against substance abuse and trafficking. Such remarks can normalize criminal behavior, weaken public trust in law enforcement, and send the wrong message to young people about accountability and moral responsibility.
