After rapper Erigga boldly claimed he would have other men’s women visit him when he’s ready, one comment fueled the idea by saying: “Everybody babe get release clause… just dey pray make dem no trigger her release clause or trigger her loan move.” While framed like football banter, this comment normalizes infidelity and disrespects relationships. Treating women as players with “release clauses” objectifies them and trivializes commitment. Love and loyalty should not be compared to transfer deals. Such jokes may sound witty but they encourage unfaithfulness and insecurity. Relationships thrive on trust, not on seeing partners as temporary or easily replaceable.
