A post sharing the news of Femi Otedola selling his shares in Geregu Power for about ₦1 trillion should have remained a discussion about business and investment. Instead, one user used the moment to make an insensitive remark targeting his daughters and women in general, claiming none of them inherited his business acumen and dismissing them as “failed” professionals, before concluding that having no male child means one has not truly had children.

This comment is deeply misogynistic. It devalues women’s achievements, equates worth with male offspring, and reinforces the harmful belief that success and legacy are exclusive to men. It also ignores the reality that individuals choose different career paths and define success in varied ways.

Using a business milestone to insult women and promote gender superiority adds nothing to meaningful discourse. Such remarks perpetuate sexism and entitlement, not intelligence or insight.
