In response to the anonymous post of a man confessing to killing his girlfriend, one female commenter wrote: “Na why me dey tell guys not to trust my gender.” This is troubling because instead of condemning the act of murder, she shifted the focus to distrusting women in general—even including herself. Such a statement not only normalizes violence against women but also reinforces harmful stereotypes. The real issue here is the loss of life and the disturbing mindset that excuses it. Distrust should never be the takeaway; accountability and justice should be.
