A social post alleged that the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force paraded 50 church members over suspected IPOB links, and shockingly claimed they were executed.
One response ignored the gravity and said: “Reason I support any armed group targeting those terrorists in uniform.”
That is the real red flag. Even if people suspect abuse of power, cheering violence against the very institutions meant to protect the public propels the country toward total chaos. It normalizes mob retaliation, emboldens criminals, and legitimizes armed groups as heroes over systems—systems victims still depend on for rescue and justice. When anger for alleged brutality mutates into support for more bloodshed, society loses both logic and humanity.
Demand investigations, transparency, and reform. Never applaud groups promising to add more guns and bodies to our insecurity.
