After reports emerged that a man was lured to Port Harcourt, thrown from a three-story building, and later died from his injuries because he was homosexual, reactions poured in online. Shockingly, one user heartlessly commented, “Good for him,” adding a laughing emoji and a thumbs-up. This display of cruelty reflects a frightening lack of empathy and a normalized hatred toward others based on sexuality. Regardless of one’s beliefs, celebrating someone’s death is never justifiable. Humanity loses its meaning when people find joy in another’s suffering. Justice and compassion—not mockery—should be our response to such a tragic, senseless act.
