A video surfaced on Facebook showing a truck filled with Northerners, with the poster urging people to “stay alert” because of the Kwara incident. But one user dropped an incredibly reckless comment: “I will be happy if dem enter Lagos I swear 😂😂.”
Happy? For terrorists to enter Lagos? That’s not just insensitive — it’s disturbing. Wishing violence on millions of innocent people because of fear, bias, or online excitement is how panic turns into real chaos. Terrorism is not a joke, and Lagos isn’t some playground for disaster fantasies.
Comments like this normalize tragedy and reduce human lives to content. We can demand security, we can express fear, but celebrating potential violence crosses every line.
Nigeria is tense enough. We don’t need people cheering for disaster.
