A controversial post on X claimed that women of previous generations stayed with cheating partners only because they had children, were unemployed, and lacked awareness of their rights. The user went further to glorify the modern alternative: “We will walk away and take all your wealth with us.”

While it is true that many older women endured unhealthy marriages due to societal and economic limitations, turning that reality into a justification for exploiting partners today is deeply problematic. Advocating for leaving a relationship is one thing; celebrating the idea of taking someone’s assets as revenge is something entirely different.

Such statements frame modern empowerment as entitlement, encouraging hostility instead of fairness. Progress should mean healthier boundaries, mutual respect, and equitable separation—not a new culture of weaponising breakups to inflict financial harm.
